Fat Grafts for Men

Lipo Modelling (Fat Transfer/Lipofilling) in London

Fat transfers are also referred to as Lipofilling or Liposhifting. The technique involves harvesting fat from one or few areas of the body for injection into another area to change the shape, volume, consistency and profile of tissues, with the aim of reconstructing, rejuvenating and regenerating body features.

Fat can be transferred to almost any area of the body. The most common area treated is the face but is also becoming increasingly popular for plumping out skin on the backs of the hands, buttocks and breasts. Hollowness of the cheeks and temples can be treated and the upper cheek fat pad can be increased to give a more youthful look.

How is fat transfer performed?

Fat Transfer is the process by which fat is removed from an appropriate part of your body (donor area) and transferred into another area of the body (target area). Fat is usually removed under local anaesthesia, however if this is performed with a surgical procedure, sedation or general anaesthesia may be used. Fat is removed with a fine cannula through small puncture sites. Fat is then injected into the treatment site under local or general anaesthesia.

What are the benefits of fat transfer?

  • The main advantage of fat transfer procedures is that you are using your own fat and no foreign substance is used.
  • Recovery is quick
  • Results are almost immediate
  • Results may be unpredictable as some of the fat can sometimes be reabsorbed
  • Fat necrosis and the formation of lump.
